Final Drawings

This is a 20 minute dynamic pose, this is a good example of a closed dynamic pose, all the parts of the body are close together. This image on a whole as a human figure is quite successful, the proportion is right,  The pose is quite straight forward with the weights being mainly distributed on the spine and there is a perfect balance as she sits.

To an extent the anatomy seems right with respect to body proportion and weight, however there are some minor problems with this drawing, such as the left foot seems distorted and out of place.

This is a 25 minute drawing, mainly focusing on the material, form of the object and the technique used to give an impression of the material. By looking at the picture it is obvious that you are looking at an orange and a bunch of banana, this is mainly due to the tonal value, that gives us a really good sense of the shape of the object, simply by just altering the tonal value on the orange i was able to give an impression that the object is round. Likewise with the bunch of banana, the light and dark tone certainly makes it a lot clearer for the eyes, specially the folds on them, giving it a 3-Dimensional feeling.

There is also good use of shadowing on the cloth, telling us where the folds are. However this drawing fails in terms of composition, as there are no foreground, mid ground and background, but instead focuses on the whole image.

Week 12

This is a quick 15 minute sketch of a landscape, here I have mainly focused on the use of colours for giving an impression of scenery with very minimal detail.
In terms of composition, this drawing is quite straight forward, with the buildings being the background, the river and the pavement being the mid ground and the concrete wall as the foreground.
However, despite the use of good colour and composition this drawing lacks shape and focal point, which makes it harder to get the feel of a 3 dimensional landscape.

Week 11

This sketch took 20 minutes, here I have mainly focused on the building rather than the whole scene. In this sketch I gives an impression of whats around the building due to the use of colours, telling us there are woods around the house. The use of colours in this drawing is pretty successful as it's tonal value tells us that it is a very grim and dull environment with not much greenery.

In terms of composition, this drawing has foreground, mid ground and the background being the blurry woods telling us its in a distance.
However this sketch doesn't have a perfect perspective as you can tell by looking at the house that it is distorted and doesn't follow rules of perspective correctly.

Week 10

 This is a quick 15 minute drawing showing a basic composition of an interior, it gives a good sense of composition with the background foreground and mid-ground. However it fails to show any lights and contrast which makes this drawing dull and boring.

 This drawing of a corridor took me 15 minutes, the lightness and darkness contrast in this image played an important role as it gave us a 3 dimensional feeling of a corridor but this drawing failed to show much of a composition.

This is a 15 minute drawing of a cabin room, it gives us a sense that there is some composition but due to lack of light and contrast it fails to make it clear enough. The 2 point perspective helped me get that depth in the field and made it look like a room. The shading on the curtains made it look more round than just a curved surface, However its not enough to give the right tone to the drawing.

Week 9

Here is a 20 minute sketch of a statue, showing some traditional monuments inside a museum. The purpose of this drawing was to get the shape of the structure and pose of the statue, which turned out successful however the tonal value could have been better in order to give a better impression of the material. Even though the shading on the cloth gives a good idea of the folds and the curves, the brush stroke were deliberately with an angle to give a sense of falling drapery. 

Despite having a good tonal value the drawing overall lacks viewers attention due to no background, foreground or any sort of composition.

Week 8

 Here is a quick 5 minute sketch showing a basic anatomy of a squirrel when they're jumping or landing from a tree. I believe this sketch is successful as it has the right proportion. The pose is very open dynamic.

 This a basic skeleton shape of a Dik Dik's head. Just by looking at the skeleton we can tell that this is a quite small animal with huge eyes. By looking at the skeleton we can also say that this is a herbivorous animal as the jaws aren't as strong as a carnivore animal. This is very different to a human's skull, human's skull anatomy is more round rather than pointy and triangle shape. This sketch took me 10 minutes. 

This is a 25 minute drawing showing the basic anatomy of a bull's head. This drawing is successful as it gives a good sense of the anatomy of an animals head compared to humans, humans have flat face whereas animals in most cases has pointy face with the nose at the end of the face.

Week 7

 This 15 minute drawing shows a basic human figure that is almost dynamic but there are still muscle stretch on the left arm as she leans on one side, so this is more of a static pose. There is a  sense of gravity pulling down but the weight of the body is not evenly distributed, there is more weight on left arm than the right arm possibly no weight at all on the right arm.

This is a another example of a static pose where the figure is very relaxed and doesn't show any movement. The sense of weight in this drawing is quite well shown, this can be seen as the skin is relaxed and pulled by gravity, also giving a good balance on the whole body. This drawing took me 20 minutes.
